Amid the 15-day strike by the cargo union, the government issued an order to start operations in the steel and petrochemical sectors following cement.

In response, the opposition party said they would accept a plan to extend the safe fare system for three years, but the President's Office and the government adhered to the position that they could discuss it only after returning to work first.

Today, nine days after the issuance of the business start order for those who refuse to transport goods in the cement sector, the government issued additional orders for the steel and petrochemical industries.

A total of 10,000 people are eligible, including 6,000 in the steel field and 4,500 in the petrochemical field.

This is a significant increase from the 2,500 employees in the cement field.

This is based on the judgment that the damage is spreading to the extent that production disruptions or production cuts are being considered, as the shipment disruptions of steel products and petrochemical products amount to 1.3 trillion won each.

[Han Deok-soo/Prime Minister: Disruptions in shipments of steel and petrochemical products may soon spread to key downstream industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and semiconductors, spreading to a crisis throughout our economy.]

If the obligation to return is not fulfilled, He said that he would be subjected to administrative measures such as suspension and even criminal punishment, raising the level of pressure.

The government's successive hardline measures are believed to have been effective in weakening the strike power, such as recovering shipments from 11% to 96% in the cement sector after an increase in the number of returnees after the order to start work.

In the midst of this, in order to prevent the sunset of the safe fare system at the end of this month, the Democratic Party took a step back by saying that it would accept the government and ruling party's proposal to extend the safe fare system for three years without expanding items.

[Choi In-ho/Democratic Party member: We will accept the government's ruling party's 3-year extension plan to continue the safe fare system and minimize economic damage.

] If it continues, it has changed its stance to a hardline policy that the abolition of the safe fare system is inevitable on the 31st of this month, making it more difficult to find a point of contact between the governments.
