In next year's spring labor offensive, the Metal Workers' Union, which consists of industry-specific labor unions such as automobiles and electrical machinery, has decided to demand a monthly wage increase of at least 6,000 yen, which is double the previous year's wages, as an amount equivalent to the wage increase.

The Japan Metal Workers' Union is made up of five industry-specific labor unions, including automobile and electrical machinery manufacturers, and has approximately 2 million members.

On the 7th, a council meeting was held in Tokyo to decide on the policy for next year's spring labor offensive.

According to this, after securing a regular salary increase, we will seek a monthly wage increase of 6,000 yen or more as a base increase equivalent to raising the basic salary.

Until the previous year, we had set a wage increase of "3,000 yen or more" for seven consecutive years as an amount equivalent to a base increase, but this time we are asking for a double level.

At a press conference, chairman Akihiro Kaneko said, "This time, we need to strengthen investment in people, not only in the metal industry, but also as a driving force and trigger for Japan's economic growth. Prices will rise and wages will not change. It is necessary to raise wages as soon as possible, and it is an unprecedented point to ensure the safety and security of workers and consumers."

Automobile and electrical machinery unions, which are members of the Japan Metal Workers' Union, will decide on policies for spring labor offensives that incorporate their specific demands.
