These are professions in which the supply of jobs exceeds the number of applications.

Companies are therefore unable to fill vacancies.

The first list of shortage occupations dates from 2008. It has only been updated once, in 2021.

A new shortage occupations update updated in early 2023

This list includes all occupations in need of manpower, in the 13 metropolitan areas.

Among the most cited are butchers, carpenters and truck drivers.

The list will be updated in early 2023, after consultations between the government and the social partners.

The Ministry of Labor promises that the hotel and restaurant trades will be included.

In this sector, there are 200,000 unfilled jobs... and many employees in an irregular situation.

The employers' organizations are therefore in favor of the creation of a "short-term occupation" residence permit.
