With the lifting of the ban on advanced flight of drones, "Level 4", it is expected that the development of human resources who can handle specialized operations such as logistics while ensuring safety will become an issue.

For this reason, KDDI, which has been using drones for inspections of mobile phone base stations, has decided to establish a new school to train pilots.

At the schools scheduled to open in Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture and Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture in January next year, in addition to the courses required to acquire national qualifications, courses will be prepared for each specialized area, such as logistics, photography, and inspection. I also want you to learn skills.

Until now, the private sector has established its own licenses for drone operation, but with this revision of the law, a license system that requires practical and academic tests has been established as a national qualification.

The company is applying to the government for the designation of a "registered training institution" that is exempt from the practical exam, in preparation for the opening of the school in January next year.

KDDI Smart Drone Expert Takashi Shimotsuru says, "The demand for highly specialized pilots is increasing, and we want to develop human resources with the skills to operate safely."

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, there are approximately 1,400 pilot training schools nationwide, and the acquisition of national qualifications is expected to improve piloting skills and ensure safety.

There is also a matching site for pilots and companies and local governments

With the lifting of the ban on “level 4” drones, it is expected that the use of drones will expand more than ever in facility inspections and surveys.

The Rakuten Group has launched a matching site to match companies and local governments, in anticipation of an increase in the need for human resources capable of advanced piloting.

This site is a mechanism for drone operators and companies that need such human resources to register information. You can post specialized fields that you can handle, such as aerial photography and surveying.

Companies and local governments can directly request jobs from these human resources, and can also recruit people to operate drones by registering the date and time of flying the drone, the work content, and the amount of remuneration.

In addition, information necessary for flying drones, such as no-fly zones and rain cloud radar, is also posted on the site, and they hope to improve the efficiency of the pilot's work.
