What the Bundestag Budget Committee wrote about energy aid is as circumstantial as it is sober - and yet it has what it takes to get the blood of family entrepreneurs boiling.

Their representatives warn that support will be lost, that property rights will be encroached upon, and that investments will be relocated.

Why is?

The budget politicians of the coalition have decided what should be a matter of course: the government should ensure that the energy aid for the supported companies does not flow out in the form of dividends, bonuses or special payments.

The result would be a more indebted state without a strengthened economy.

Nevertheless, one should not ignore the hardships of those affected, who are sometimes dependent on transfers from their company - not least to be able to pay income taxes that are due.

The aid must therefore be designed with due care.

What sounds simple requires some coordination in political practice.

Rightly so.

Because there is a lot at stake for everyone.
