The Korea Consumer Agency requested corrections to companies that used the expressions 'eco-friendly' or 'non-toxic' for children's wooden toys products without grounds.

When the Korea Consumer Agency investigated 20 wooden toys for children, 9 products used expressions such as 'eco-friendly', 'non-toxic', and 'harmless to the human body' in product packaging or online advertisement without any basis.

Wooden toys for children are regulated by law so that comprehensive environmental terms or expressions cannot be used without providing specific grounds.

In addition, according to toy safety standards, the model name, manufacturing date, and manufacturer name must be displayed in Korean on the front, which is most easily noticeable, but four products omitted this.

No harmful substances were detected in all of the products under investigation or were detected below the standard level, and they also met the safety standards.

Companies caught have announced to the Korea Consumer Agency that they will improve related display and advertising or stop selling.

The Korea Consumer Agency plans to ask related ministries to strengthen management and supervision.
