Dubai Electricity and Water Authority announced the provision of retail stores that include cafes, restaurants and children's playgrounds, in addition to shops selling honey, local products and souvenirs, within the "Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls" project, free of charge to the citizens of the "Hatta" region, as a tribute from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed. Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to the citizens of Hatta to provide additional job opportunities and meet the needs of social, economic and environmental development.

And the authority stated in a statement that its step comes as an implementation of the honor of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to the citizens of Hatta.

DEWA stated that, in implementation of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Authority has established the “Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls” project, at a cost of 46 million dirhams, as part of its social and investment responsibility, so that the project will be a distinctive tourist destination.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said, "Within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development throughout the Emirate of Dubai, and to be ( Hatta is a tourist and investment attraction center par excellence, while preserving the city's ancient heritage and attractive nature, the authority is implementing pioneering projects in (Hatta), aiming to contribute to the development of the region, providing innovative job opportunities for the citizens of the region, and enhancing community happiness.

He added, “We are keen, in implementing the (Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls) project, to use the latest, most advanced and safest technologies, to suit the geological conditions of the (Hatta) region, taking into account the highest international environmental standards, to preserve (Hatta Mountain Reserve), and to harmonize the project with its surroundings in the region.” It provides a qualitative and unique experience for the country's tourists, and contributes to highlighting the beauty of the mountainous regions.

Al Tayer continued, "The Hatta Waterfalls project aims to create a sustainable natural environment, in addition to developing the area and turning it into recreational spaces and tourist attractions in the UAE."

He said that the idea began with the establishment of a natural water channel from the waterfall, in line with the nature of the area in Hatta, to form green spaces around it that divide the project into four main oases, which represent investment opportunities for cafes, restaurants, children's playgrounds, in addition to retail stores. Honey, local products, and souvenirs, which will be presented as a tribute from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to the citizens of Hatta, to provide additional job opportunities and meet the needs of social, economic and environmental development.

The "Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls" project is unique in its innovative architectural idea, which is inspired by the hexagonal beehive design, as "Hatta" is famous for being a global center for the production of high-quality natural honey.

The “Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls” project is one of the prominent projects that will be implemented during the coming period by taking advantage of the slope of the “Hatta Dam”, using it as a natural waterfall, and creating a water course below the dam, so that that water can be collected at the end of the stream, recycled and pumped to the upper part of the slope. As well as developing the area to include entertainment spaces, cafes, and various restaurants.
