An industry group has compiled a forecast that the global semiconductor market next year and 2023 will decline for the first time in four years due to a reaction to the increase in demand for staying at home due to the impact of the new corona.

According to the WSTS, an industry group made up of semiconductor manufacturers around the world, the global sales of semiconductors for the next year will be 556.5 billion dollars, or more than 76 trillion yen in Japanese yen, a decrease of 4.1% from this year for the first time in four years. is expected to turn to a decline.

This is because the demand for products for personal computers and smartphones, which had increased due to the spread of telework triggered by the new Corona, is declining, and it is expected that the consumption of products that use semiconductors will decline due to record inflation.

On the other hand, the Japanese market is expected to grow by 0.4% due to firm demand for semiconductors used in automobiles and industrial equipment.

The WSTS Japan Council said, "Demand is expected to remain sluggish until the first half of next year, but latent demand for 5G and data centers is strong, and recovery is expected in the second half of next year."
