Elon Musk's taunts on Twitter are piling up these days and often don't have to be taken seriously.

However, the attack he has now launched on Apple carries weight, and not just because two particularly prominent opponents are facing each other here.

Musk, the new Twitter owner, is targeting a sore spot at Apple.

He claims that Apple threatened to kick Twitter out of the App Store and once again criticizes the terms the iPhone maker dictates to app developers.

So, in essence, he's denouncing Apple's brutal play on its App Store dominance, and that's an accusation he can be sure of some agreement with.

Apple's practices were the subject of a high-profile antitrust lawsuit against video game maker Epic Games last year.

There are legislative initiatives on both sides of the Atlantic that could weaken Apple's and Google's authority in their app stores.

Musk's move fuels this discussion - and gives the chorus of Apple critics a particularly loud voice.
