Food maker Kagome has announced that it will raise the price of its mainstay products, such as tomato ketchup, from delivery on February 1, 2020, in response to soaring raw material prices.

A total of 329 food and beverage items for home and commercial use, including

tomato ketchup,

pasta sauce

, and

tomato juice,

will be subject to price increases .

The range of increase is from 6.4% to 29% in shipping price excluding tax, and some seasonings such as tomato ketchup, which is the main product, will be raised again following April this year.

The company says that the price of tomatoes, which are raw materials, is rising due to the increase in global demand and the decrease in yields due to droughts, etc., and material costs and energy prices are soaring.

Among food manufacturers, "Kikkoman" has also

lowered the suggested retail prices excluding tax from 7% to 24% for deliveries on March 1, 2020 for a total of 94 items for home and commercial use, such as

tomato ketchup and

tomato juice.

It has announced that it will raise prices by 10%, and it seems that the price hikes of foods that are familiar to our lives will spread further after the beginning of the year.
