The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has called

for effective "equal opportunities" between women and men

, and for this he has urged governments, companies, the media and the whole of society to lay the necessary foundations to achieve it because "no society can give up half of its potential.

This was stated during his speech at

the Actualidad Económica and Telva Awards

for the 'Best Businesswomen of the Valencian Community', which was also attended by the Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo.

The Business Women Awards from Actualidad Economica and Telva recognize the best managers and professionals in the region.

The winners have been

Rosana Perán,

Executive Vice President of Pikolinos, who has received the Award for Best Business Trajectory;

Ángela Pérez

, vice president of Life Science Health in code, award for Best Innovative Entrepreneur.

The Best Director award went to

María Martínez Iturriaga

, vice president of the Berklee College of Music Institute and executive director of Berklee Valencia.

Lastly, the Solidarity and Philanthropy Award went to

Leticia Valera

, president of the NGO Kassumay and the company Vaya Tela Leticia.

During the event, the head of the Consell highlighted

the great social transformations

that have taken place in the last sixty years and referred to Telva as "synonymous with modernity" that has accompanied all these changes.

In this sense, the president recalled that

when the head of Unidad Editorial appeared, "women could not be judges or prosecutors,

only 11 were professors and represented 20% of the student body, and currently they are the majority in the judicial career, there are 2,400 female professors in Spain and represent 56% of university students.

Ximo Puig

thanked the winners for their "tireless struggle to break down real and mental borders",

and stressed that their careers constitute a reference for the next generations of women.

As he explained, the awards recognize "the professional achievements and contribution to equality" of the winners, and he has remembered the pioneering Valencian women in the fight for equality and progress, such as María Cambrils, Ascensión Chirivella and Matilde Pérez , and all the anonymous women who have contributed to the development of the country.
