This month's consumer price index in Tokyo's 23 wards rose 3.6% from the same month last year, excluding fresh food, which fluctuates greatly depending on the weather.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the consumer price index excluding fresh food in Tokyo's 23 wards has risen to 103.6 from 100 a year ago in preliminary figures as of the middle of this month.



A series of food price hikes was the main factor behind the rise in prices, with 'food, excluding fresh produce' rising 6.7% from the same month last year.
