“Changes in energy prices have had little effect on mortality in the past... The relationship between energy prices and winter mortality may change this year,” the report notes.

According to the statistical model of the publication, in the event of a warm winter, mortality will exceed the historical average by 32 thousand people, severe winter months will lead to an additional 335 thousand deaths.

Earlier, Igor Yushkov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of Russia and the National Energy Security Fund, said that Europe could expect a significant rise in gas prices at the end of winter.
