It was a highly anticipated election.

This Friday, according to

La Provence

, former Interior Minister Christophe Castaner was elected chairman of the supervisory board of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille.

The former deputy beat his challenger Stéphane Richard, previously at the head of Orange.

The position had been vacant since 2020 due to the death of the previous chairman of the supervisory board, Jean-Marc Forneri.

The current president of the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône Laurence Borie-Bancel was, for her part, appointed vice-president of the supervisory board of the Marseille port.
