As the use of drones in industry and business spreads, drones that use new technology that can be used even in difficult-to-fly sites are appearing.

Drones jointly developed by a venture company in Tokyo with TEPCO and others inspect power lines instead of humans.

Until now, it was considered difficult to control drone flight stably due to the effects of electromagnetic waves emitted from power lines.

With the new technology, the drone can automatically fly without a human pilot while detecting the position of the cable of the power line with a sensor.

Takayuki Kumada, president of Blue Innovation Co., Ltd., which developed the drone, says, "There is a problem that the repair work of aging social infrastructure is not progressing due to the decrease in the working population, and drones have a great advantage."

Meanwhile, drone development company ACSL has developed a drone that inspects sewer pipes.

It has been said that it is difficult for radio waves to reach the inside of sewage pipes, making it difficult to operate drones.

Against the backdrop of a labor shortage, the use of drones for such infrastructure work is likely to become more widespread.
