According to an exclusive study by Meteojob and Meilleurtaux for Europe 1, medium-sized cities are the most attractive cities in France.

They offer both a large number of permanent contracts, a satisfactory median salary and an accessible real estate market.

So which cities are at the top of the ranking?

Medium-sized towns seduce the French.

According to an exclusive study by Meteojob and Meilleurtaux for Europe 1 and Le Parisien, they come first among the most attractive cities in France.

These cities attract for their job opportunities and access to real estate.

Orléans, Mulhouse and Rouen topped the podium.

Why ?

Orléans, the most attractive city

With a median salary of 2,417 euros, well above the national average, and a price per square meter below 3,000 euros, Orléans is the most attractive city in France.

It is also the city that offers the most permanent contracts, compared to the number of inhabitants, notes Louis Coulon, general manager of Météo Job.

"Orleans and Mulhouse stand out as being the two cities that allow both to find a job, in particular on permanent contracts, and with a fairly interesting median salary. Home services or health are particularly recruiting. And on the other side these cities have an interesting real estate pool", he specifies.

The advantages of medium-sized cities

And these medium-sized cities have been attracting the French even more since the pandemic.

They leave the big cities for more comfort.

"In these cities you can, with a median salary which is sometimes barely lower, have access to 60-70 m2 on average. Whereas in Paris, even if the median salary is the highest in France, you can on average access 15m2 to become an owner", notes Louis Coulon.

Paris thus stagnates in 31st place in the ranking, while one in ten Parisians left the capital between the end of 2020 and the end of 2021.
