Never before have so many people in the Federal Republic of Germany been employed as in the third quarter of this year.

With 45.6 million people, the record from the fourth quarter of 2019 before the corona pandemic was exceeded by 82,000, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office on Thursday.

Compared to the previous quarter, the number rose by 22,000 in the months of July to September, which the statisticians attributed solely to the usual autumn revival on the labor market.

However, the upward trend has recently lost momentum and even in a European comparison, Germany grew by 1.1 percent over the year, not as fast as the EU (+1.5 percent) or the euro area (+1.7 Percent).

The strongest growth was once again recorded in the various service sectors.

But there were also slightly more people in employment in manufacturing and construction.

There were declines in agriculture and forestry.

The volume of work done by everyone increased by 2.2 percent to 15.6 billion hours within a year.

That was 342.1 hours (+1.1 percent) per person in the quarter.
