Bodybuilders have a bright future ahead of them!

The meteorological models used by scientists working on future climate change are, in fact, all formal: whatever the level of warming that the Earth will experience in the coming years, hailstorms are set to increase in number. more or less high proportions.

When you know the damage that hailstones can do to a bodywork, it is important, from now on, to show a spirit of precaution.

Insurers have already taken the lead, scientifically establishing a range of scenarios in order to anticipate risks.

This is for example the case of Covéa (group of insurers such as GMF, MAAF or MMA and insuring nearly 11 million users), which in 2022 submitted a thick report, the

White Paper on Climate Change

, detailing with a great precision of the insurance issues to come.

The conclusions of this document resulting from a long work of synthesis and analysis of IPCC data are clear: "Climate change should contribute to a +60% increase in claims in the years to come, in connection with an increase in the frequency and severity of flood, drought and hail events.

Protect yourself from the worst

It will be understood, the risk of hail must therefore not be underestimated.

And for good reason, “Hailstorms should experience a significant increase throughout the territory (+40%) and affect sectors currently spared.

The northern half of France will experience the greatest increase in the number of hailstorms, but the areas currently most heavily exposed will always remain the most at risk.

The claims load should increase by +20%”, estimates the Covéa report.

It is therefore necessary, from now on, to protect your back.

Indeed, if you have a basic insurance policy, one that covers basic risks, there is a good chance that damage caused by hail will not be included in the coverage.

Given the increase in repair prices and the basic costs for the slightest intervention on a bodywork, it would be a shame to end up with a colossal bill to pay out of pocket.

It is therefore necessary to look into your insurance contract and take out, if necessary, a more complete car contract covering the impacts of hailstones.

OUR “HAIL” FILE

Generally, this type of policy also covers other types of claims such as vandalism, falling debris, damage without an identified third party, or even theft.

Certainly, the total bill can climb quickly: count between 100 and 300 € more per year depending on the extent of the protection.

But the increase in risk, which seems to be accelerating and affecting areas in France which were hitherto spared, is enough to justify this additional cost.
