When in March, the Platform in Defense of Road Transport launched its strike threat, the rest of the sector rejected it,

calling the association unrepresentative.

Even the Ministry of Transport refused, for days, to sit down with her to negotiate

as it was not part of the National Council of Road Transport, the body for dialogue with the sector.

And then, what happened happened: during its most intense phase, the mobilizations of the carriers (and their pickets) put the supply chain in check, with losses of hundreds of millions of euros.

And the Executive had no choice but to negotiate with the CNTC a series of improvements for the entire sector and, finally, promise the platform that it would be aware of the approval of the law that prohibits carriers from working at a loss.

All employers, against

That law, the platform now denounces, is not being complied with and for this reason they have called a new indefinite strike at the national level.

It will start next Monday.

And again, the small carriers have been left alone: all the parties that could be put against the protest, have done so.

The Government, the CNTC, the shippers and logistics already did it on Monday;

a day later, the CETM, the largest employer of road freight transport, made its rejection official;

and yesterday it was the turn of Fenadismer, the second largest association in the sector, which positioned itself against it after an extraordinary assembly.

But the national employer associations -CEOE, Cepyme- and the ATA self-employed association were also added.

They say in unison that

the new mobilizations come at a very difficult time, with Christmas just around the corner, so the strikes will be an added punishment for both companies and families.

In addition, they ask that the right to work of truckers who do not want to support them be respected, so that "the violent acts, coercion and blockades and traffic cuts that occurred in the month of March are not repeated."

But from the sector they remember that the situation is not what it was then.

The measures approved in the last year have reduced the damage to carriers and

"they do not justify carrying out this limit pressure measure,"

Fenadismer pointed out.

“Now it is about all the regulation that has been approved in recent months permeating

all areas of transport, it is executed, it is complied with and if not, it is sanctioned,” they added from the CNTC.

Thus, the only thing left is for the Ministry of Transport or the callers of the strike to move.
