A first recall comes from the Dutch food manufacturer Van Sillevoldt Rijst BV.

The products affected are "Golden Sun Basmati Rice, 1kg" and "Golden Sun Long Grain Premium Rice in a Cooking Bag, 1kg".

Increased aflatoxin levels have been detected in the products offered by the discounter Lidl, the company announced on Wednesday.

According to the information, aflatoxins are mold toxins that can lead to liver and kidney damage if ingested over a long period of time.

This affects products with the following best before dates: January 7th, 2023, January 8th, 2023, January 18th, 2023 - January 20th, 2023 (Golden Sun Basmati Rice, 1kg).

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) also warns against the consumption of canned sun corn.
