On November 9, with the completion of the final concrete pouring, the east main tower of the Hongqimen Bridge on the South (Guangzhou Nansha) Zhongshan (Zhongshan) Expressway was capped.

"Kapok" appeared on the Hongqili waterway, marking that the bridge is about to enter the construction stage of the superstructure.

The Hongqimen Bridge is a control project of the Nanzhong Expressway Project. The bridge is 1,726 meters long. It adopts a main span of 520 meters. The double-tower, double-cable plane semi-floating system steel box girder cable-stayed bridge has a total deck width of 43.2 meters and spans 520 meters. The busy Hongqili Waterway can take into account the navigation needs of 3,000-ton seagoing vessels.

The main tower is a diamond-shaped concrete cable tower with an octagonal section, and the tower crown is in the shape of "Kapok".

After the completion of the South-Central Expressway project, it will further enhance the role of Guangzhou’s core engine and the connecting role of Zhongshan nodes, connecting the east-west, north-south, north-south channels in the core area of the Greater Bay Area, and helping the economic and social development of the Greater Bay Area.

As a direct expressway between Guangzhou Nansha and Zhongshan, the round-trip journey between the two places is expected to be shortened by 30 minutes in the future.
