's friendly economy time.

Reporter Han Ji-yeon is here.

Do you think the Seoul Mok-dong reconstruction project will start in earnest?

<Reporter>

Yes, the Seoul Metropolitan Government revised and approved the reconstruction plan for 14 apartment complexes in Mok-dong yesterday (9th).

If the plan is finalized, it will allow up to 53,000 high-rise apartment units with up to 35 stories to be built in the Mok-dong district.

That's more than double the current number of households.

In the 1980s, large-scale apartments were supplied through the housing site development project to solve the housing problem in the Mok-dong district, but it has been pointed out that the supply-first policy was cut off from the surrounding area and formed a uniform landscape.

In addition, 14 complexes were completed sequentially from 1985, exceeding the 30-year period for reconstruction.

Reconstruction demand was high due to aging and parking difficulties.

What was the reason that the reconstruction project of the Mok-dong did not go well?

<Reporter>

Yes, regarding the Mok-dong reconstruction project, the Mok-dong district unit planning service has been ordered since 2015, and the reconstruction plan was first made in 2018. That's it.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government resumed the process after about four years by preparing a district-level plan that had undergone detailed supplementation until recently.

This is because we decided that now is the right time to come up with a reconstruction plan during the real estate downturn.

As we have just entered the first phase of the 10 phases of reconstruction, there is still a long way to go, but as the recent approval for the reconstruction of the Eunma Apartment and Yeouido pilot apartment, followed by the Mokdong apartment, other places are expected to speed up the reconstruction project.

Did the number of people buying and eating kimchi increase?

<Reporter>

Yes, this year, the Korea Rural Economic Research Institute surveyed it, and it was found that one of the four households buys and eats kimchi without making it themselves.

Exactly 25.7%, more than double the 13% in 2017.

I saw why people buy commercial kimchi, and if you make a lot of kimchi, it takes up too much space in the refrigerator because you have to store it separately.

54% of the respondents said that they can only buy what they need when they need it.

Also, making kimchi was cumbersome at 30.5%, and it was cheaper than making kimchi, followed by 8.5%.

This is what I heard while interviewing a food company that handles packaged kimchi, and he said that investing in packaged kimchi now is entirely an investment for the future.

What it means is that in the future, there will be a day when people will eventually eat kimjang without making it.

This year, the percentage of people who want to make kimchi by themselves was 65%, a slight increase from the previous year.

However, many answered that they would wait until the cost of kimchi equipment stabilizes.

The consumer price of milk eventually rises.

<Reporter>

Yes, it is.

Last Friday, I was informed that the price of crude oil was going up, and dairy companies decided to raise the price of white milk one after another to reflect this.

First of all, Maeil Dairy will raise the price of 900 milliliters of white milk from 2,610 won to 2,860 won from the 17th, 9.6% or 250 won.

In terms of 1 liter, it is 3,177 won, which is more than 3,000 won.

Namyang Dairy is also raising the price of 900 milliliters of white milk around the middle of this month, and is adjusting the final selling price.

Other dairy companies such as Seoul Milk, Dongwon, and Binggrae are also internally reviewing the timing of the hike.

As a result, coffee, bread, and ice cream are also likely to increase prices, raising food prices once again.
