Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has announced a massive layoff that

will affect 13% of the workforce

.

In total, more than 11,000 employees will be affected by a movement that had been rumored for several days.

The firm has been affected by the crisis, but also by its commitment to the metaverse, which has not yet given the expected benefits.

So far this year, the company has lost around 71% of its value.

"Today I'm sharing with you some of the toughest changes we've made in Meta's history," group boss

Mark Zuckerberg

announced in a message to employees.
