"From the factory of the future to the industrial brain, China is at the forefront of the application development in the 5G enterprise market, and China is becoming a key driving force for future 5G core requirements and new function research and development." Wu Lidong, vice president of Ericsson Northeast Asia, said at the 5th China International said during the Import Expo.

As the only multinational company involved in the whole process of building China's mobile communication network from 1G to 5G, Wu Lidong believes that China's first move comes from two aspects, the first is the huge market scale accumulated in the 4G era.

"China's 4G network construction level is at the forefront of the world, and many innovative applications have been developed, such as e-commerce online shopping, live broadcast delivery and digital finance, which not only cultivates a new digital economy, but also drives many remote mountainous areas to get rid of poverty, interpreting the infinity of digitalization. possible."

The second is the huge consumer demand from the 5G market.

Wu Lidong revealed that according to Ericsson's corporate survey report, the number of global 5G mobile subscribers is expected to exceed 1.2 billion in 2022, with 510 million in China.

Compared to 4G users, 5G users spend an average of 1 hour more per week on metaverse-related services such as virtual world games, augmented reality (AR), etc.

Rooted in the sound digital economy soil, stimulated by consumer demand, China has accelerated the pace of 5G construction in recent years.

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, by the end of September this year, China Mobile had a total of 10.72 million base stations, including 2.22 million 5G base stations, ranking the world's leading position.

At the same time, China adopts the most advanced 5G independent networking mode (SA), which has the characteristics of high bandwidth, low latency and wide coverage.

While promoting new digital infrastructure at a high level, China has also accelerated the pace of 5G application innovation.

"China leads the world in 5G To B applications." Wu Lidong said, for example, Ericsson and Jiangsu Mobile have carried out 5G transformation of Ericsson's Nanjing factory. Taking the 5G drone inventory as an example, it can improve the efficiency of inventory inventory by more than 50 times.

In the past, it took about a day and a half for one person to complete the inventory in an area, but now it only takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete the back and forth with the 5G drone inventory.

As he said, since the commercial use of 5G for more than three years, there have been more than 20,000 5G application innovation cases in China, and 5G typical application scenarios have been integrated into 40 of the 97 categories of China's national economy. The industry field plays an enabling effect.

"The practice in China tells us that communication technology is the core of digital infrastructure, and 5G, AI and cloud computing can empower the entire society, especially the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry." Wu Lidong said.

However, Wu Lidong also pointed out that China's 5G To C-side applications are still in the incubation period, especially in the development of cloud games and XR, there is still a lot of space and business opportunities.

"5G is paving the way for the future Metaverse. In this CIIE, in addition to traditional companies, there are also some game manufacturers participating. We look forward to more innovative companies in China in this field, which can drive China's 5G consumption to a higher level. steps."

Whether it is for the C-side or the B-side, Wu Lidong said frankly that the development of 5G innovation is inseparable from multi-industry collaboration and global cooperation, and China is an important part.

Wu Lidong believes that the importance of the Chinese market lies not only in its size, but also in that multinational companies can learn, absorb, grow and maintain an advantage in the global market competition.

"We are rooted in China, and we have established the largest R&D base, core production base and global network terminal testing center in China. Bring China's rich 5G innovative applications out." Wu Lidong said that in the future, Ericsson will not only do a good job of "connecting" with China, but also become a bridge to promote international cooperation and empower the new development of the global 5G market.
