This season's snow crab fishing was lifted on the 6th, and at Tottori Port in Tottori City, the boats that had finished fishing in the Sea of ​​Japan returned to the port on the morning of the 7th and landed crabs one after another.



At the first auction that started at 8:00 a.m., eight male snow crabs known as "Matsuba crabs", which were certified as brand crabs "Gokiboshi" for their excellent shape and size, were selected. A competition was held.



Then, a 1.35-kilogram, 15-centimeter-long 5-kiboshi star was auctioned off for the highest price of 1,000,000 yen.



Snow crab fishing in Tottori Prefecture will continue until March 20, 2020 for male Matsuba crabs, and until the end of the year for female parent crabs. It is the lowest 796 tons ever.



Yoichi Kokumai, director of the Tottori Prefectural Fisheries Promotion Bureau, said, "The movement of people is gradually becoming more active, so I would like many people to visit Tottori Prefecture and eat crabs. I want you to eat it too," he said.
