  The report titled "The Road to Low-Carbon Transformation of Enterprises: Actions for Sustainable Development of Enterprises in China 2022" examines the overall situation of enterprises in China's implementation of sustainable development goals and the actions they have taken in seeking their own low-carbon development path. .

  The report found that 55.5% of enterprises in China have carried out low-carbon emission reduction measures, and 61.0% of enterprises in China have included low-carbon transformation on board agendas.

In the context of China's continuous promotion of the "dual carbon" goal, as high as 86.7% of enterprises in China believe that the "dual carbon" goal will have an impact on the company's operations and revenue.

Among them, 44.5% of the companies believe that the "dual carbon" target has a greater impact on the company.

  At the same time, only 30.3% of companies have set carbon targets, showing that there is still a gap between companies' actual actions and ambitions.

The challenges faced by enterprises in reducing emissions include high cost of low-carbon transition, lack of industry-related standards, insufficient carbon accounting capabilities, and lack of public policy support.

  Dedler, Director of Corporate Sustainability at PwC China, said that at the time of publication of this report, there are only eight years left to realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is a critical milestone.

By striving towards a low-carbon transition, companies in China have the opportunity to lead in energy conservation and emission reduction in China and globally to combat climate change and achieve sustainable development goals.

  Regarding low-carbon transformation, the report believes that companies should improve their internal management systems, use digitalization to empower low-carbon transformation, actively manage climate risks and opportunities, and increase efforts to promote low-carbon transformation of the entire value chain.

  In terms of policy recommendations, the report proposes that coordination between major low-carbon market mechanisms should be strengthened, and the implementation of fiscal subsidy policies related to low-carbon transformation of the industry should be strengthened to provide auxiliary policies to encourage low-carbon transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises.
