A new technology development has started to realize automatic driving only with the camera installed in the car.

Honda will embark on a demonstration test this month, aiming for commercialization around 2030 at the earliest.

Honda is starting a demonstration experiment of a technology that analyzes the situation of the road and pedestrians in real time from the images of the camera mounted on the car and performs automatic driving.

In addition to the camera, it does not require equipment such as sensors installed in the car or infrastructure such as high-definition map information, and is characterized by its low cost.

In addition, we will combine technology that allows you to interact with AI (artificial intelligence) by voice and gestures when you get in the car, etc., and develop it so that you can easily give instructions to the car and operate it.

The demonstration experiment will start this month in Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and the company aims to put it into practical use around 2030 at the earliest.

Yuji Yasui, Executive Chief Engineer of Honda R&D Co., Ltd., said, "I want to grow into a smart mobility that is depicted in science fiction movies, and in 2040 or 2050, the technology will allow even people without a license to ride. It will evolve,” he said.
