Yesterday, Emirates Airlines began implementing its two-year program of aircraft modernization, with the start of work on the first of 120 aircraft to completely modernize the interior cabins and install the latest "Premium Economy Class" seats.

The project, which is managed by the engineering team at Emirates Airlines, includes an investment of billions of dollars, to ensure “permanent excellence” for Emirates customers in the coming years.

After the return of flight EK928 from Cairo to Dubai on October 29, the Airbus A380 headed to Hangar E at the Emirates Engineering Center, where a team of specialized engineers began preparing the aircraft for comprehensive modernization.

Emirates Airlines revealed that in addition to appointing 190 new employees for the project, it is working with 62 major partners and suppliers, who also hired hundreds of skilled workers, to accomplish the largest known program of aircraft modernization in the commercial aviation industry.

After several months of careful planning and detailed testing on the A380, Emirates engineers stocked and ordered 2,200 parts, and the procurement team quickly placed 12,600 purchase orders for the initial phase of the program.

Over the next 16 days, around the clock teams of engineers and technicians will dismantle the entire interior of the A380 and put it back together again, in a carefully planned and tested sequence.

Thousands of parts will also be removed, replaced or upgraded, including the shower, which will acquire new shades and hand-drawn the Ghaf tree.

Emirates confirmed that by May 23, 2024, all 67 A380 aircraft designated for the modernization program will be back in service.

Emirates will then begin work on modernizing 53 Boeing 777 aircraft, and by March 2025, all 120 modified aircraft will be back in service.

In addition, Emirates Airlines and Air Canada announced the activation of their codeshare partnership.

The new partnership will allow customers of the two carriers to easily continue their journeys across 46 markets on three continents, including destinations in the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

The codeshare tickets were available, as of yesterday, for sale in 35 markets, for travel from the first of next December, with the addition of 11 other markets, pending final approval from the regulatory authorities, and the possibility of including more markets after that.
