It was found that the number of users of SPC's membership 'Happy Point' app decreased noticeably as the boycott spread after an accident in which a worker died while working at an SPC affiliate's bakery factory.

According to statistics compiled today (26th) by Mobile Index of big data platform company IG Works, the number of Happy Point app users has been on the decline since the last 15 days of the fatal accident.

On the 15th, the day of the accident, the combined daily active users (DAU) of the Happy Point app in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store was about 628,000, but fell 8% to 578,000 the next day.

It is unusual that the number of users of this app, which fluctuates up and down from the usual 600,000, decreased by 50,000 in one day.

On the next day, the 17th, the number went down further to 574,000.

On the 18th, when the online and offline movement increased, such as the keyword 'boycott' rising on Twitter's real-time trend, the number continued to decrease to about 548,000.

The Happy Point app DAU rose briefly to 600,000 on the 19th, but then plummeted again to 555,000 on the same day, then further decreased to 538,000 on the 21st and plummeted to 531,000 on the 22nd. .

It's down over 15% in just one week compared to the 15-day figure, which is the lowest DAU the app has recorded in the past year.

SPC's delivery and pickup service platform app 'Happy Order' also showed a decrease in users similar to the Happy Point app.

The DAU of the Happy Order app was around 53,000 on the 15th, and then continued to decline, reaching 38,000 on the 20th, the lowest in the past year.

On the 21st and 22nd, the number rose slightly to the low 40,000 range, but it was lower by about 10,000 to 20,000 than the level before the accident.

Earlier on the 15th, at the SPL bakery factory in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, a subsidiary of SPC, a worker in his 20s died in an accident while mixing bread sauce, but SPC restarted the factory line with the cloth wrapped around the accident the day after the accident. It was criticized for carrying out inappropriate treatment one after another, such as bringing a box of affiliated bread products to the deceased's mortuary.

SPC Chairman Heo Young-in held a press conference on the 21st to apologize and take measures to prevent recurrence, but two days later, on the 23rd, a worker in his 40s suffered a finger injury at the Shani Bakery Factory in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.
