The management of the Michelin factory in Cholet, in Maine-et-Loire, explained that it was facing a drop in orders, thus justifying a reduction in its activity.

She announced, during the social and economic committee (CSE) of October 17, various measures to the unions.

Next year's tire production will, in particular, be revised downwards, reports

Manufacturing activity will also be completely shut down for two weeks at the end of December.

A break in production is also planned, punctually, before this interruption.

This will, for example, be the case on several Saturdays, as well as on October 31.

Each of the 1,115 employees will suffer an average of four days of partial unemployment, Michelin leaders said.

The unions said they were “concerned” about the drop in income caused by these decisions.

They also denounced the lack of precise information concerning the situation and are asking for more.

By failing to give an official notice to the announcement made by Michelin, they have, in fact, blocked the application of the measures.
