Gasoline prices in Germany have fallen noticeably compared to the previous week.

This is the result of an evaluation published on Wednesday by the ADAC car club for the prices of more than 14,000 petrol stations in Germany

According to the information, the national average price for diesel fell by 2.7 cents to 2.120 euros per liter.

In the case of Super E10, however, the drop in price was about twice as strong, at 5.4 cents to 1.885 euros.

Diesel is more expensive than Super E10

This has been a trend for some time: diesel is more expensive than Super E10.

Initially, this seems to have had something to do with the fact that Germany had previously obtained diesel and its precursors directly from Russia.

In the meantime, the high demand for heating oil, which is closely related to diesel in its production, is said to keep the price of diesel high.

Some households stocked up on heating oil because of the heating season.

However, some companies also buy heating oil that otherwise mainly work with gas, but can also replace this with heating oil in production.

Fuel prices “continue to be significantly too high”

The prices at the gas stations are still "significantly too high, especially for diesel," commented the ADAC.

There are reasons, such as the seasonal increase in demand for heating oil and the increased demand for heating oil from industry.

"However, a liter of diesel accounts for a good 20 cents less in energy and VAT, but the liter currently costs a good 23 cents more than the Super E10," writes the ADAC.

This price gap is unusually high - and vice versa as usual.

The ADAC recommends comparing the prices at different gas stations.

Those who can should also take advantage of the lower prices in the evening.

According to the current study, consumers can save around 12 cents per liter compared to the morning hours.
