The UAE is the leading source of tourists to Vienna

Vienna recorded about 112,231 hotel nights during the months of July and August 2022 by travelers coming to it from Arab countries located in the continent of Asia, which represents about 80% of the volume of tourist traffic in the same period in 2019 before the Corona pandemic.

The UAE topped the list of those countries, where travelers recorded 41,191 nights in Vienna, followed by Saudi Arabia with 30,885. Thus, the two countries accounted for two-thirds of the overnight stays from that region, and the last third is the overnight stays recorded by travelers from neighboring Arab countries.

The Vienna Tourism Authority said, in a statement, that the summer tourism season was characterized by the presence of many direct flights from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to Vienna, where some airlines operated many flights per week.

Most of the flights were coming from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with an average of 10 flights from one country per week.

Vienna also witnessed the arrival of the first flights to it from Kuwait, at a rate of 4 flights per week.

It is mentioned that usually about half of the overnight stays in Vienna are registered by Arab tourists during July and August.

Overall, the total hotel nights in Vienna amounted to 2,788,720 during the two months.

Germany, Austria and the United States led the way in the number of tourists traveling.

Matthias Schwendel, Director of Media Relations for the Middle East Market at the Vienna Tourism, said: "I am very pleased that the summer in Vienna was excellent, as hotel nights from the Arabian Gulf region and neighboring Arab countries amounted to about 80% of their volume compared to 2019".
