It has become clear that the number of reservations for reserved seats on the Tokaido Shinkansen for the next month has recovered to about 90% of what it was before the spread of the new corona, due to an increase in travel demand.

According to JR Tokai, the number of passengers on the Tokaido Shinkansen, including reserved seats and non-reserved seats, from October 1 to 19 was 75% compared to the same period in 2018, before the spread of the new corona infection. .

On the other hand, the number of reserved seat reservations for the month from October 20th to November 19th has recovered to about 90% compared to the same period in 2018.

This seems to be due to the increasing use of the Shinkansen for travel, including the start of the government's new measure to stimulate tourism demand, "National Travel Assistance," on October 11.

At a press conference in Tokyo, JR Central President Shin Kaneko said, "Looking at the usage and reservation situation, I think there's a growing trend to travel more in the future. Nearly 20% of the group's hotels are used by foreigners. The number of users is increasing, and the current situation and future prospects are bright."
