China News Agency, Haikou, October 20 (Reporter Wang Xiaobin) The reporter learned from China National Offshore Oil Corporation ("CNOOC") on the 20th that the company recently discovered China's first deep-water deep-water giant in the southeastern waters of Hainan Island. Gas field with proven geological reserves of more than 50 billion cubic meters.

The deep-water deep gas field discovered this time was named "Taodao 21-1".

In the field of offshore oil and gas exploration, waters with a depth of more than 300 meters are generally called deep waters, and wells with a depth of more than 3,500 meters are defined as deep wells.

The Baodao 21-1 gas field is located in the deep water area in the southeastern part of Hainan Island. The maximum operating water depth is over 1,500 meters, and the drilling depth is over 5,000 meters.

According to reports, since the foreign cooperation in the 1980s, CNOOC has made four explorations on the "treasure island", but no large-scale discoveries have been found.

Since entering the new era, CNOOC has made use of new exploration technology to go deeper, five explorations of "treasure islands", and finally discovered a batch of new favorable structures.

Through target selection, CNOOC researchers found that Baodao 21-1 has a tectonic background with large delta development, and is most likely a large and medium-sized gas field.

The first pre-exploration well deployed encountered a gas layer of 113 meters, setting a record for the thickest gas layer in a single well in the deep water area.

After testing, the daily output of natural gas was 587,000 cubic meters.

The approved geological reserves of natural gas exceeded 50 billion cubic meters, and the proven geological reserves of condensate oil exceeded 3 million cubic meters.

Wu Keqiang, chief geologist of CNOOC Hainan Branch, said that the successful discovery of Baodao 21-1 not only confirmed the exploration potential of the Baodao sag, but also showed that CNOOC has made important breakthroughs in deep-water and deep exploration technology. The exploration of the department has important guiding significance.

According to the overall plan of CNOOC, by 2025, the total proven natural gas reserves in the three basins of Yinggehai, Qiongdongnan and Pearl River Estuary in the South China Sea will reach 1 trillion cubic meters, and a "trillion cubic gas area" will be built.

Through the established "Yacheng-Hong Kong" submarine gas pipeline, which is the largest in Asia, high-quality clean energy under the sea will be directly connected to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Island, providing guarantee for regional construction and energy structure transformation.
