Missouri is another US state that is withdrawing money from its pension funds from the asset manager because of Blackrock's ESG strategy.

Treasury Secretary Scott Fitzpatrick on Tuesday accused Blackrock of focusing too much on environmental, social and good governance (ESG) criteria - at the expense of returns.

Specifically, it's about $ 500 million.

Several Republican states want to sever ties with Blackrock over its ESG push.

Louisiana earlier this month said it would withdraw nearly $800 million.

As states criticize Blackrock, environmental groups accuse the world's largest wealth manager of not doing enough to promote an energy transition.

Group boss Larry Fink said last week that he was now being attacked equally from left and right: "So I'm doing something right."
