The Servier group has announced the upcoming closure of its historic premises in the city center of Orléans (Loiret).

The iconic building located next to the house of Jacques Servier, founder of the pharmaceutical giant in 1954, is expected to be abandoned by the company by 2026;

The site will probably be sold.

A director of the company explained that he was in discussion with the municipality to determine the future of the site.

Olivier Russo thus clarified that Orléans wanted the building to continue to accommodate businesses.

Part of the site could also be converted into living quarters.

The French pharmaceutical group has also announced the elimination of 62 positions.

The 190 employees who worked in the Orleans premises will eventually be transferred to the group's other offices.

They will be divided between the research center, recently opened in Saclay (Essonne), and the other site owned by the Servier group in Loiret, in Gidy.

The company plans to hire 25 people there in the biomedicine branch, for which it will open a new building on site in about a year.
