Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the “Diverse” platform in the world of “Metaverse”, to provide its services to its customers, employees and members of the community, thus becoming the first local government institution to launch its virtual platform in the world of “Metaverse”, and the Authority is investing in “Metaverse” technology in the implementation and development of its current and future projects. Which contributes to achieving the happiness of stakeholders, in addition to contributing to the development of business, raising the level of efficiency and production, and reducing costs.

This came during the meeting of the Higher Committee for Digital Transformation at the authority, during which the digital maturity report was reviewed, according to the “digital assessment of the year 2022”, conducted by the global consultancy “McKinsey”, where the authority maintained its first position among the global service institutions with this assessment.

On this occasion, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said:“Translation of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to take advantage of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to improve performance and improve people’s quality of life, and to embody the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, with the aim of consolidating Dubai’s position among the top 10 cities in the leading economies in the field of metaverse, making it a major center for the global metaverse community, and enhancing its successes in this field, we are working in Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to enhance benefit One of the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including metaverse technology, as a basic pillar and a new method of work in all vital sectors, and harnessing this technology to find new opportunities and provide innovative solutions that contribute to advancing the accelerating growth wheel to enhance Dubai’s position regionally and globally.”

During the meeting, seven projects using the Metaverse technology were reviewed, including: The Customer Service Center, the first of its kind locally, which enables customers to communicate with service representatives to answer their inquiries and complete their transactions through the Deiverse platform.

And the virtual work environment, which enables employees and senior management to move around the authority’s premises, and hold meetings.

and the Future Lab, which will enable users to hold brainstorming sessions, discuss challenges, and develop the best solutions using innovation tools via the virtual body’s platform.

and live innovation sessions, which enable users to view the latest innovations in the authority via the Dewaverse platform.

and first aid and safety and fire prevention measures, which enables users to follow safety and security steps.

And drones, which will enable users to scan solar panels, discover faults and solve them, in addition to preparing reports in the virtual world, and preparing new employees, which allows new employees to learn about the vision and mission of the authority through the Dewaverse platform.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority was one of the first government agencies in Dubai to complete the transformation of all its services into smart services 100%, in 2014, and one of the most prominent stations in its journey: the adoption of the smart application in Google glasses in 2014, which constituted a new shift in the quality of services provided.

The application was specifically designed to suit the needs of the authority by enabling engineers to monitor any malfunctions in the authority's stations.
