Toyota Motor Corporation announced that more than 290,000 e-mail addresses of customers who subscribed to a connected service that connects cars to the Internet may have been leaked.

According to Toyota, what may have been leaked is the email address of a customer who subscribed to the connected service "T-Connect" that connects the car to the Internet.

The target is more than 290,000 email addresses registered on the "T-Connect" user site after July 2017.

On the other hand, there is no possibility that information such as names, phone numbers, credit cards, etc. have been leaked.

It is said that due to a mistake by the company that outsourced the development of the site, the "access key" to the data server that stored the e-mail address was released to the outside in a state that can be analyzed.

At this time, we have not confirmed the unauthorized use of personal information, but we are calling attention to the possibility of sending spam such as fraud.

"Toyota sincerely apologizes for causing great inconvenience and concern to our customers. We will continue to make further efforts to protect and manage personal information."
