“Everything will cost more” for these end-of-year celebrations.

Guest of BFMTV, this Sunday, Michel-Edouard Leclerc warned that inflation will have repercussions on Christmas 2022 for consumers.

"It will cost more to offer toys to his children," said the president of the strategic committee of the E.Leclerc centers.

Such a situation of generalized price increases forces consumers to make choices.

“Some consumers will make trade-offs by eating first-price pasta (…) to offer their child a beautiful toy”, judge Michel-Edouard Leclerc.

Chocolate and confectionery sold without margin

Toys are hit hard by inflation because most of them are manufactured by large multinationals, and are subject to licensing.

The cost of transport accounts for a large part of the inflation in the toy departments.

But the official indicates that not all increases will be passed on.

"There are lots of products where we are not going to take our margins," said Michel-Edouard Leclerc.

Chocolate and confectionery should thus escape a sharp rise.

The president of the strategic committee of the E.Leclerc centers does not want to be reassuring about the coming months.

According to him, we are experiencing “true lasting inflation”.

The rise in prices could continue for a year.
