• Crisis The OECD improves Spain's forecast for this year but sinks that of 2023 and warns that there will be more inflation

The Government has once again revised downwards its growth forecast for next year.

It already did so in July and now, less than three months later, as a direct consequence of the slowdown that the world economy, the European economy and, also, that of Spain, is suffering.

Specifically, the First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, announced this afternoon in Brussels that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will advance by 2.1% in 2023, which is

1.4 percentage points less than the figure initial

.

In that July review, Calviño announced that instead of 3.5% the economy would grow 2.7%.

And

today it has returned to apply another sensible reduction

of six tenths.

At the same time, the Government estimates that the GDP will advance this year by 4.4%, which represents a

timid upward revision

from the previous 4.3%.

It is "

a prudent forecast

, since the indicators and data that we have until September could allow an even greater upward revision," the vice president pointed out in an interview with

Bloomberg News

and collected by Europa Press.

"We see strong activity and job creation, also in tax revenue, so everything indicates that the Spanish economy, until September, continues to grow quite strongly," she added.

But despite this "prudence" pointed out by Calviño, the new figures from the Executive are far from those offered last week by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development:

the OECD lowered the 2023 figure to 1.5 %

, that is, six tenths less than what the Executive expects.

For this year, on the other hand, both estimates coincide at 4.4%.

In any case, the figures that Calviño has pointed out today will be a fundamental part of the macro picture that the Executive must include in the General State Budgets (PGE).

About this point.

the vice president has pointed out that the public accounts will be ready "

soon

".

"We are putting the finishing touches on it and I hope that soon we will be able to have that PGE project for 2023, which will be the basis of the budget project that we will send to Brussels before October 15," she stressed.
