The headrest covers of some seats are made of artificial leather developed by Aomori Prefecture's startup company "appcycle" using dried pomace of apples, a local product.



Leather that uses materials that are not derived from animals is called "vegan leather" and is attracting attention around the world.



Ms. Yuka Shigeno, representative of "appcycle," said, "We developed this product to help solve the problem of apple food loss. We want people around the world to see this product from Aomori."
