Hypovereinsbank boss Michael Diederich will move to FC Bayern Munich next spring, replacing his banker colleague Jan-Christian Dreesen as CFO.
"I wouldn't leave Hypovereinsbank for any role, but I couldn't turn down the opportunity that was offered to me," Diederich said in Munich on Thursday.
He is a fan of the German soccer record champions.
The 57-year-old has managed the subsidiary of Italian Unicredit since 2018 and was a member of the FC Bayern supervisory board at the time.
At Hypovereinsbank (HVB), he will be replaced on March 1, 2023 by Marion Höllinger, who was previously responsible for German private customer business.
"Even though the times through which we are steering the bank are not easy, we are well positioned to start a new chapter as Unicredit," explained Höllinger.
She has been working for HVB for more than 30 years and was promoted to the Management Board last year.
Unicredit boss Andrea Orcel said that Höllinger could help "that Hypocereinsbank can develop its full potential in the future".
At FC Bayern, Diederich will also be deputy to CEO Oliver Kahn on July 1, 2023.
He will be on the board of Germany's largest football club on April 1st.
In the three months, Dreesen is to hand over his office to him.
The 55-year-old came to FC Bayern from BayernLB in 2013 and will not extend his contract, which expires in mid-2023.
FC Bayern is in 5th place in the Bundesliga after seven games.
After three wins in a row, the record champions never got beyond a draw in the following games.
Most recently, the Munich team even lost against FC Augsburg.
On Friday they play against Bayer Leverkusen.
