According to Alexander Frolov, an internal political struggle between member countries of the association begins in the European Union.

“Hungary in this situation takes a certain position related to the need to lift part of the sanctions, because they negatively affect the EU economy in general and Hungary in particular,” the specialist said.

In turn, Aleksey Zubets emphasized that not all European countries can replace gas with alternative sources.

“Even if it is possible to buy it, there is no way to deliver it,” he said.

Also, according to him, there are separate industries where gas cannot be replaced, there is no alternative, and the structure is adjusted to cheap Russian gas.

“There are industries: chemistry and the production of nitrogen fertilizers, where natural gas is the raw material,” Zubets specified.

The interlocutor of RT believes that Hungary's statement is a response to those countries that demand an embargo on Russian gas.

“Those who promote such ideas are the lobbyists of other countries, including the Americans.

Their main goal is to damage the European economy.

Because Europe is a direct competitor to the USA,” the economist added.

Earlier, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said that a number of European countries would not be able to survive the winter without Russian gas.

He also criticized Western European officials' claims that gas storage facilities were full.

According to him, this figure should be assessed in relation to the level of gas consumption in each country.
