[Explanation] The golden autumn season is when tussah silkworms begin to make cocoons on a large scale.

In Arong Banner, Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, more than 5,000 silkworm farmers are busy among the trees.

Looking at the "silver knots" full of mountains and trees, silkworm farmers are full of joy of harvest.

[Explanation] China is the first country to use tussah silkworms and stock tussah silkworms. Arong Banner is the largest tussah silkworm cocoon production base and distribution center in Inner Mongolia, and has been stocking tussah silkworms for decades.

The local silkworm cocoons are of good quality, yield and benefit. The high yield and harvest of tussah have made the local silkworm farmers on the "fast track" to become rich.

Su Changwei, a local villager, is one of them. The 43-year-old Su Changwei has been a 20-year-old silkworm farmer. Over the years, Su Changwei's family has relied on sericulture to move out of a bungalow and live in a building, and his living conditions have gradually improved.

It used to be a bungalow, but now I live in a building, which is to raise silkworms (changed).

Now the income from sericulture is for the children to go to college anyway.

[Commentary] Su Changwei told reporters that after two months of "growing up", silkworm babies are covered with oak branches.

In autumn, tussah silkworms slowly "cocoon and bind themselves", spit out silk to wrap themselves up and prepare for hibernation. This stage is the time when silkworm farmers have a great harvest and the busiest time.

All the scissors are manually cut one by one, one by one.

It's just a little bit tired to put this silkworm, it's a bit harder, it's quite (struggling), this tree, take scissors to cut one by one, just cut like this, all use scissors to cut one by one manually, one by one.

[Explanation] Although sericulture is hard work, the cycle is short and the income is high. It is a good helper for the local people to get rich and increase their income.

Nowadays, many villagers who go out to work also choose to return to their hometowns and achieve "employment" at their doorstep.

I earn 40,000 to 50,000 yuan in more than two months, and I can work part-time for a year.

[Explanation] It is understood that in 2022, Arong Banner will stock 1.32 billion tussah silkworms, and the comprehensive output value of the sericulture industry is expected to reach 230 million yuan.

The development of local sericulture not only protects the ecological environment, but also promotes economic development. Now it has become one of the important industries in Arong Banner to enrich the people and strengthen the banner.

Arong Banner currently has an area of 600,000 mu of tussah forest suitable for silkworms, and has developed 470,000 mu of silkworm farms with more than 4,000 stockings, with an annual output of 100,000 kilograms of tussah seeds of "two chemical processes and one release".

[Concurrent] Xu Zhigang, director of Arongqi Tussah Experimental Factory

In the next few years, according to the changes in the environment, gradually change the characteristics of the varieties, and gradually strengthen the breeding area, to produce tussah seeds with strong disease resistance, high yield, high quality, stable yield and high efficiency.
