Four former bankers of the insolvent Maple Bank GmbH are to be jailed for up to almost six years for their role in cum-ex deals.

The Frankfurt public prosecutor's office demanded this in their closing arguments before the Frankfurt Regional Court on Monday.

According to a court spokesman, prosecutors requested five years and nine months in prison for a 58-year-old American.

Former bank boss Wolfgang Schuck, 68, faces five years and three months behind bars, while a 51-year-old trader faces three years and nine months in prison.

A 62-year-old banker who worked with prosecutors is set to get away with a suspended sentence.

According to the indictment, Maple's cum-ex transactions, which were the subject of the proceedings, cost German taxpayers 388.6 million euros.
