The eighth session of the World Green Economy Summit discusses ways to enhance global food security, the sustainability of food systems, and the role of the food production and agriculture sector in achieving a carbon neutral future.

The summit, organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the World Green Economy Organization on September 28 and 29, at the Dubai World Trade Center, sheds light on the rapid global changes, which require finding practical solutions to the challenges of the entire food value chain.

The summit brings together local and international dignitaries, the most prominent decision-makers, leaders and influential figures at the global level to exchange experiences and successful experiences that contribute to avoiding a food crisis that affects everyone, and finding innovative and effective solutions to provide new sources of food based on modern technology, in order to ensure that the needs of current and future generations are met.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: “The summit supports the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al. Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the UAE into a global center for food security based on innovation and the objectives of the National Food Security Strategy 2051 launched by the UAE in 2018, which aims to develop a comprehensive national system based on enabling sustainable food production.

The summit enhances the country’s participation in providing sustainable global solutions that contribute to improving human life everywhere.”

He added, "The summit supports the efforts of the UAE to achieve the United Nations sustainable development goals for 2030, including eradicating hunger, as it discusses ways to make current food systems more sustainable by investing in the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, climate-smart agriculture, shifting towards a green and circular economy and employing innovation."
