Self-owned brand robots accelerate growth

At the press conference on the theme of "vigorously developing high-end equipment manufacturing industry" held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently, Guo Shougang, deputy director of the First Division of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that the scale of my country's robot industry is growing rapidly, and the operating income of the entire robot industry in 2021 will exceed 1,300 yuan. billion.

Among them, the output of industrial robots reached 366,000 units, an increase of 10 times compared with 2015, ranking the world's largest industrial robot market.

The booming development of the robot industry has greatly changed people's production and lifestyle, and injected strong momentum into economic and social development.

  Deeper and wider application

Robot dogs sing and dance, simulating humanoid robots sing, delivery robots, and robot "doctors" perform surgery remotely... In recent years, with the accelerated integration of artificial intelligence, 5G, new materials and other technologies and robotics, robots are in More and more fields are showing their talents, and new industries, new models and new formats are constantly being born.

At the recently held China Robot Industry Development Conference, Wang Tianmiao, president of the Zhongguancun Zhiyou Research Institute and honorary director of the Beihang Robotics Research Institute, said that labor shortages and increased costs have driven the rapid growth of robots, which is a long-term rigid demand in the market.

In this growth, robots show a trend of wider application and deeper application.

Robot application scenarios are increasingly rich.

According to Wang Weiming, director of the First Division of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the application of industrial robots in my country has covered 60 major industries and 168 industries in the national economy.

In 2021, the output of service robots in my country will reach 9.214 million units, a year-on-year increase of 48.9%.

While the special robot market is growing steadily, important breakthroughs have been achieved in high-complexity products such as space robots, deep-sea robots, and surgical robots.

"In the past, robots were used in the mobile phone or automobile industry. Now robots are used in new energy, service industries and agriculture." Wang Tianmiao said that robots used to be used by large enterprises in the past, and now even small and medium-sized enterprises with only a few dozen employees are also using robots. application.

Statistics show that in 2021, the density of robots in my country's manufacturing industry will reach more than 300 units per 10,000 people, an increase of about 13 times over 2012.

Service robots are widely used in catering, education, medical care, logistics and other fields.

For example, at the just-concluded 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services, Meituan showcased automatic delivery vehicles and delivery drones, and automated delivery through intelligent scheduling to further improve efficiency.

According to data from Tianyancha, as of now, there are more than 439,000 service robot-related enterprises in my country, of which more than 79,000 newly registered enterprises were registered from January to August this year.

Special robots have become a reality.

The large and small robotic arms in the space station can cooperate to carry out extravehicular operation tasks in space. Self-powered software robots have achieved 10,000-meter deep diving and driving, and robots can intelligently and efficiently complete tasks in high-risk industry scenarios such as petrochemicals and ships.

  Domestic substitution accelerates

While the scale of my country's robot market is developing rapidly, benefiting from policy guidance and market demand, the domestic robot industry has developed rapidly, and the sales growth rate and market share have continued to increase.

According to the statistics of the China Machinery Industry Federation Robot Branch (China Robot Industry Alliance) and the International Robot Federation, in 2021, my country's industrial robot market will sell a total of 271,000 industrial robots, a year-on-year increase of 50.1%, and the growth rate is 30.1 percentage points higher than the previous year.

Among them, foreign brand robots sold 184,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 49.7%, and the growth rate was 26 percentage points higher than the previous year; self-owned brand industrial robots sold 87,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 50.8%, and the growth rate was 38 percentage points higher than the previous year.

In 2021, the proportion of self-owned brand robots in the total market sales will be 32%, an increase from the previous year.

From the perspective of market share, in 2021, the market share of self-owned brand robots in the electrical and electronic equipment and equipment manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, and metal processing industries will increase, and the market share in the food manufacturing, plastic and chemical products manufacturing industries will decrease.

Robots are known as "the pearl at the top of the manufacturing crown", and their R&D, manufacturing and application are important symbols to measure a country's technological innovation and high-end manufacturing level.

Regarding the development level of my country's robot industry, Song Xiaogang, secretary-general of China Machinery Industry Federation, executive vice chairman and secretary-general of the robot branch, believes that my country's industrial robot industry has initially formed a complete industrial chain.

From key components to complete machines to integrated applications, each link and related components have related enterprises.

The coverage of the application field of self-owned brand industrial robots is also expanding year by year.

Song Xiaogang said that the current coverage of self-owned brand robots has a certain depth, especially in some sub-sectors, such as furnace robots in the metallurgical industry, as well as robots in the furniture, ceramic bathroom and photovoltaic industries. These industries are not large. But it is directly related to whether the transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing industry, the improvement of quality and efficiency, and the improvement of the environment can be successfully completed.

In the future, there is still a lot of room for expansion in the scope of application.

As a leader in the robotics industry, SIASUN Robotics has been established for more than 20 years and has successfully developed five series of products with independent intellectual property rights: industrial robots, mobile robots, special robots, collaborative robots, and medical service robots.

Products have been exported to more than 40 countries and regions, providing industrial upgrading services for more than 4,000 international companies around the world.

According to public information, SIASUN Robot is an equipment supplier for many well-known automobile manufacturers. With the upgrading of high-end manufacturing industry and the acceleration of domestic replacement of robots, SIASUN Robot will also usher in a broad space for development.

  Collaborative innovation is critical

Despite great progress, the domestic robotics industry still has a long way to go.

Zhao Jie, director of the Institute of Robotics of Harbin Institute of Technology, said bluntly: "The domestic robot industry basically has all except special chips, but the development of the industry needs to solve the problem of harmony."

Zhao Jie believes that in the future, the hardware part of robots may gradually become standardized, modularized or even unitized.

The gap with the international leading level is mainly reflected in key technologies such as robot design, structure, motion control, and reliability.

In particular, it should be noted that the robot is a product with strong electromechanical coupling, and the contribution of a single technological breakthrough to the improvement of the performance of the whole machine is limited.

How to improve the core competitiveness of domestic robots?

Zhao Jie believes that it is necessary to make good use of innovation centers, engineering technology centers and state key laboratories to achieve systematic breakthroughs with the advantages of the system.

Song Xiaogang also said that the domestic robot industry does have problems with low market share and insufficient supply of high-end products.

These problems are not only manifested in the finished robot, but also in parts, software and other links.

Mainly due to insufficient R&D innovation, including insufficient innovation capability, insufficient investment and insufficient market application.

How to solve these contradictions that restrict innovation is a question that Song Xiaogang has repeatedly thought about.

"The collaborative innovation of the industrial chain is crucial to the development of my country's robotics industry." He said that domestic robotics companies are smaller than large international robotics companies and have limited investment in innovation and R&D.

Through collaborative innovation with other enterprises in the industry chain, while obtaining more R&D investment, it can also develop matching robot equipment according to the specific production needs of different enterprises.

The application drives the development of the whole robot industry, and the whole machine drives the technological progress in the field of parts and components, and finally realizes the common improvement of the whole chain.

This idea is supported by relevant departmental policies.

Guo Shougang said that in the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will actively expand industry applications, implement the "robot +" application action, organize the precise connection between production and demand, speed up the popularization and promotion of mature scenarios, increase product innovation in emerging fields, strengthen featured applications in subdivision fields, and help various industries. Digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading.

At the same time, key enterprises in the industry are encouraged to play a leading role in building an ecosystem for large and medium-sized enterprises to integrate and develop in the fields of complete machines, parts and systems, and system integration.

Driven by the broad market demand, it is expected that the popularity of the domestic robot track will continue.

According to the forecast of the Advanced Industrial Research Institute, the growth rate of the domestic industrial robot market is expected to exceed 20% in the second half of the year, with annual sales of 303,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 15% to 20%.

According to the "China Robot Industry Development Report (2022)", my country's robot market will reach US$17.4 billion in 2022, including US$8.7 billion for industrial robots, US$6.5 billion for service robots, and US$2.2 billion for special robots. The growth rate is 22%.
