Threatened additional payments to energy suppliers have lost their terror, at least for Lufthansa pilots.

After two increases, they will receive almost 1000 euros more basic remuneration from April 2023 - every month.

The conclusion turns out to be expensive for Lufthansa.

The group was able to avert a required full inflation compensation for top earners in the cockpit with an annual income of well over 200,000 euros.

That would not have been justifiable to citizens who are worried about the next utility bill.

However, operational stability could not be obtained cheaper.

Otherwise the pilots would have continued to strike, and various conflict issues have not been resolved.

Confrontations in the past have fueled distrust, the Corona austerity course, which was too strict in retrospect, depressed the mood, and the bumpy start-up of the company was nerve-wracking.

The group was under pressure and had to buy collective bargaining.

A high degree for cockpit crews follows a high degree for ground workers.

Lufthansa fills up old emotional ditches with a lot of money.

It remains to be hoped that trade unions will not take advantage of this in the longer term.
