70% of employers in the UAE plan to attract new employees in 2023

Bayt.com, in cooperation with YouGov, a market research organization, announced the launch of the Middle East Jobs Index, in order to measure job availability and prevailing employment trends, in addition to highlighting the most in-demand skill set and qualifications.

In a statement yesterday, the website confirmed that 7 out of 10 employers (70%) in the UAE announced that they plan to hire new employees during the next year.

50% of companies planning to hire in the next three months will provide a maximum of five vacancies, while 25% will provide about 6 to 10 vacancies.

The positions of sales executive (20%), accountant (18%) and administrative assistant (16%) are the most in-demand roles in the UAE during the next three months.

Interestingly, good communication skills in English and Arabic (51%) emerged as the most sought-after skills by employers for candidates, followed by ability to work in a team (42%), leadership skills (34%), and ability to work under pressure ( 33%).

In terms of experience, 28% of respondents said they are looking for candidates with managerial skills (the ability to manage a team), 27% said they are looking for candidates with sales and marketing experience, and 29% are looking for candidates with medium experience.

Business administration degrees (22%), engineering (22%), commerce (19%), and academic qualifications are the most sought after by employers in the UAE.

Commenting on the survey, Ola Haddad, managing director of human resources at Bayt.com, said: “The majority of employers in the Middle East and North Africa are looking to increase their workforce through a human resource-centric approach.

The data shows the need for professionals to focus on developing skills required in the market such as communication and teamwork, with companies to focus on providing learning opportunities for employees who lack such skills, and taking steps to enhance the capabilities of qualified employees and constantly develop their skills.

The employment environment is positive in the UAE, with 7 out of 10 employers (70%) planning to hire new employees over the next year.

The business consultancy, business administration and management consulting sector (84%) topped the list of the sectors with the highest potential for employment over the next year in the Middle East and North Africa, followed by trade and retail (82%) and consumer goods (81%).

The advertising, marketing and public relations sectors (35%), real estate, construction and real estate development (33%) and banking and financial services (31%) emerged as the most attractive sectors for talent in the UAE.

On the other hand, the real estate, construction and real estate development sector emerged as the most attractive to local talent (37%), while the advertising, marketing and public relations sector emerged as the most attractive to fresh graduates (37%) and female talent (40%).
