It is reported by TASS.

In a video conference hosted by the Brookings Institution in Washington, Adeyemo said he often heard statements that "Russia will not sell oil" at or below the set price and "simply refuse to export."

“The way the price cap is set is the reason we don't think it will happen... From an economic standpoint, holding on to oil just doesn't make sense.

The price ceiling creates a clear economic incentive to sell within the established limit,” the official said.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier, the decision of some countries to impose price restrictions on Russian energy resources will not lead to anything good for its initiators.

He stressed that Russia would not supply oil and gas to its own detriment in the event of a Western price cap.

Budapest also opposed the introduction of a price ceiling for Russian gas at a meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels.

Vladislav Belov, head of the Center for German Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, commented on the situation around Nord Stream 2 in an interview with Economics Today.
